Symposium - French Vin de Pays Red or White

A pair of specially selected blends from the deep South of France. The red is ripe with berry flavours and soft tannins, while the white is crisp, aromatic and the driest side of medium.

Ochagavia Sauvignon Blanc or Cabarnet Sauvignon

Selected for their up-front and fruit driven style, you'll be tempted by a second glass (or bottle). Delicious rich dark berry fruits, with perfectly balanced tannin from the Cabarnett and zesty tropical fruit from the Sauvignon Blanc

Santa Carolina- Chilean Chardonnay

Ripe 'Golden Delicious' apple aromas and tropical fruit flavours with subtle vanilla.

Ochagavia Cabernet Sauvignon

The warm climate of Chile produces this fruity, juicy red wine with plummy flavours that is balanced well with light tannins.

Vallade Pinot Grigio- Veneto, Italy

A tasty, light and zesty wine, with flavours of juicy pear and good acidity, it is ideal on its own or with light meals, subtle flavours and fish.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

The “new Italian wine experience” developed by Casa Girelli produces a rich robust quintessential Italian Red.  It captures intense aromas married with layers and layers of ripe berry fruit, cherries and spices, a perfect marriage with most pasta and red meat dishes.

Long Beach Shiraz- South Africa

This classic full bodied Shiraz is softly textured and shows rewarding juicy flavours of red berries and plums with hints of cinnamon and crushed black pepper ending in soft vanilla tones.

Domaine Montrose Rose- Languedoc, France

Made from the unusual sounding local grape variety of Rolle, this wine is summer in a glass. Perfect drinking on its own or with light pork or chicken dishes.

White Wines

Babich Rieslingn Blanc - Marlborough, New Zealand

A classic Riesling from the world re-known region of Marlborough; displaying intense, ripe floral and citrus flavours balanced with a crisp, off dry finish, great with fish or with white meat dishes.

Hugel et Fils Les Fleurs d' Alsace - Alsace

A blend of the five classic grape varieties from Alsace; the wine has an intensely floral bouquet with a rich and ripe fruit character, perfectly perfumed and aromatic. Great with stronger flavours and pink meats.

Cuttaway Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Southern Highlands Australia

A vibrant green in colour with lifted gooseberry and herbaceous aromas and a crisp tropical palate balanced by a long finish, enjoy with salads, pasta or fish dishes

Joseph Druhin Chablis - Burgundy, France

A steely, bone dry Chardonnay from the world famous French domaine; Drouhin is one of the biggest producers in Burgundy and famed for quality and consistency. Still using very traditional techniques to craft their wines, the Chablis is fermented in tank and finished in old wood, malolactic fermentation is left to follow its own course naturally.

Red Wines

Bodegas Edguren Rioja Cosecha 2003- Spain

This is not the leathery-old-boot of a wine you may presume. The Eguren family use modern techniques to craft a luscious, round, berry fruit driven wine from their Tempranillo grapes.

Cuttaway Cabernet Sauvignon

Ruby red in colour with ripe blackcurrant and spicy oak aromas. Matured in selected oak for 12 months producing a well balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with sweet berry characters and savoury tannins giving a long smooth finish.

Villa Cafaggio Chianti 2002- Italy

A consistent achiever of top marks at International wine fairs, it is difficult to find better Chianti than this. Plums and black cherries are in every mouthful of wine with beautifully refined tannins that goes well with almost every non-fish dish.

Lirac 2000- Rhone

Using experience from one of the oldest wine producers in France, Lirac is an appellation in its own right that epitomises the high quality of Rhone wine without the old dusty flavours.  Bursting with flavours of red fruits, this medium bodied wine has bright colour and great length.

Chateau Teyssier Grand Cru 2001- Saint Emilion

A boutique winery owned by Jonathan Malthus that is on the gravel plateau surrounding St Sulpice, St Emilion.  The Merlot is so deep and brooding after vinification it only needs a year in new oak to provide the subtle tannin and structure of this elegant wine.

Chateau Mont Redon, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Versino- Rhone, France

The classic Versino blend of 65% Grenache 15% Syrah 15% Mourvedre. Spice and saddle leather complexity on the nose, wonderfully rich crushed, gourmand fruit flavours of bramble and blackthorn on the palate, notes of  cassis and kirsch too, silky  smooth yet so intense and persistent. Spicy rich and opulent food wine, best with rich red meat and game or lamb.
